What is the Moldavite Flush?

When holding Moldavite for the first time, some people report experiencing what has become known as the "Moldavite Flush." It is often described as a sensation of warmth, tingling, increased energy, or a flushed feeling throughout the body. Others describe feeling an immediate opening of the heart chakra or a noticeable shift in awareness. These experiences vary greatly from person to person. Some people feel the effects immediately, while others notice little or no conscious sensation at all.

Because Moldavite is often considered a high-energy stone, some people prefer to work with it gradually when first becoming familiar with its energy. Minerals such as Shungite, Hematite, Smoky Quartz, Black Obsidian, Jet, and Iron Meteorites are commonly used for grounding and balancing. Herkimer Diamonds and other quartz crystals are frequently paired with Moldavite and are believed by many crystal enthusiasts to help stabilize or amplify its energy. As with all crystal work, it is best to follow your own experience, intuition, and personal guidance.

About Moldavite: Science & History

Moldavite is a very rare green Tektite that was created as a result of a meteor that fell to Earth about 15 million years ago. While it is commonly referred to as a crystal, gemstone, or meteorite, it is actually none of these. Moldavite is a naturally occurring form of impact glass known as a Tektite.

Moldavite was formed approximately 15 million years ago during the meteorite impact that created the Ries crater region of present-day Germany. It is part earthly (made from the Earth's crust) and part extraterrestrial (meteorite-based).

The intense heat generated upon impact instantly vaporized surrounding materials. This created a hot molten green silica-rich material that was ejected into the atmosphere and later cooled into natural glass across parts of what is now the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is the only place in the world where genuine Moldavite is found.

Its beautiful green color, extraterrestrial origins, rarity, and the extraordinary experiences reported by many people who work with it have made Moldavite one of the most sought-after tektites in the world.
